Kitchener’s live music treasure!
Rhapsody Barrel Bar located across from City Hall in downtown Kitchener has had quite a rich short history of world class musicians perform. With lots of local talent, and national talent playing at Rhapsody, it has become quite the hot bed of a venue in the region!
Every week throughout the year, there are plenty of elite musicians to see play music. On Wednesdays, open blues jams are hosted by Pop the Gator’s own John Lee and his band. Pop the Gator was THE place in Canada for Blues. Blues legends such as Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Mel Brown, Steve Strongman all played at Pop the Gator. John Lee was the B3 player for Mel Brown and he started the blues jams at Rhapsody in hopes to keep the art form alive and well for years to come.
My girlfriend Angelica and I frequent Rhapsody Barrel Bar for the live music and the opportunity for me to learn something new on the guitar. I have built a great relationship with all of the musicians in the house band. Chris Latta who is the guitarist in the band is the most humble man I have ever met even though he is the best guitarist I have ever witnessed. I am very lucky to be able to call him my friend. He always invites me to play guitar with the special guest for that week at the Blues Jam. I get to learn a lot every time I go up and perform with the musician they have for that week.
On the weekends, they have a headlining band perform for the very busy, music loving patrons. The pub is always packed full of music lovers! If they have a cover, it is always very cheap and you get a lot for the $5 entrance fee.
All in all, Rhapsody is a wonderful place to see live music and it is a great place to learn and socialize!
